The Crypto Assets market has recently sparked intense discussions among industry insiders, especially regarding predictions for the future trend of Bitcoin.
Steven McClurg, the CEO of Canary Capital, recently made a striking prediction. He forecasts that Bitcoin may rise to a high of $150,000 in the current cycle, but could then enter a bear market in the following year. McClurg attributes this prediction mainly to concerns about the macroeconomic outlook, believing that not only Bitcoin but the overall economy may also face downward pressure.
Currently, the price of Bitcoin is fluctuating around $115,800, with about a 30% upside potential remaining to reach the $150,000 high predicted by McClurg. He believes that the possibility of Bitcoin reaching the range of $140,000 to $150,000 this year is over fifty percent.
McClurg pointed out that the recent rise in Bitcoin prices is mainly benefited from the inflow of funds into spot ETFs and the purchasing behavior of various asset management companies. It is noteworthy that not only small institutions are participating, but large sovereign wealth funds have also begun to position themselves, which has become a key factor in driving up prices.
However, McClurg holds a pessimistic view on the prospects of Ethereum. Despite Ethereum's strong recent performance, he believes that emerging blockchains like Solana and Sui have technically surpassed Ethereum, and he expects that Ethereum may struggle to reach new highs again.
However, McClurg's viewpoint has not gained unanimous recognition in the market. Michael Saylor, the Executive Chairman of Strategy, stated in June of this year that as long as the Bitcoin price does not fall to zero, it is expected to reach 1 million dollars. He believes that Bitcoin has broken through key resistance and that the 'crypto winter' will not return.
Matt Hougan, the Chief Investment Officer of Bitwise, holds a more optimistic view, expecting the digital currency bull market to last for several years, with an upward momentum still present in 2026.
These different viewpoints reflect the complexity and uncertainty of the Crypto Assets market. Investors need to weigh various perspectives and make judgments based on their own risk tolerance. Regardless, the development of the Crypto Assets market is still worth continuous attention.
